The Plan is for providers assessing standards and delivering programmes in the food and fibre sector.

We have developed a National External Quality Assurance and Moderation Plan for providers assessing standards and delivering programmes in the food and fibre sector.
Providers have endorsed our whanaungatanga (relationship-based) approach which we will continue to build on this year.
The 2023 plan features:
- A successful risk-based moderation approach (started in 2022) to continue in 2023.
- Programme endorsement function to continue in 2023 and we will start to focus on moderation at a programme level.
- The Quality Assurance and Moderation team to continue on-site provider visits as well as trialling virtual site visits in 2023
Muka Tangata advice, action and assurance values to continue in 2023:
Whanaungatanga – an emphasis on building relationships first;
Whakapono – having a reciprocal high trust model;
Whakapakari – a ‘side by side’ approach to improving and upskilling best practice;
Whakanui – acknowledging and celebrating stories of success and best practice.

Throughout the year we will be offering 22 online workshops. Half will be specifically tailored for schools and the other half for providers. There will be individual workshops focused on Pre and Post Assessment Moderation, incorporating mātauranga Māori into delivery and assessment, Programme Endorsement considerations and Assessment Best Practice.
